Yes its just a additonal feature to the existing mod.

A cactus mod (hence the name).
Cacti are now harmful, dealing damage when you are in contact with them. (if anyone can help me with damaging mobs e.g. animals mod, that would be wonderful.).
Cacti also drop cactus fruits on occasion. These heal 1 1/2 hearts.
You can also make cactus clubs. Try them out :)
