Star_Gamer, I agree with you, this is needed badly. Translating Minetest alone is not enough, the subgames are much more important. This is a known feature request:
https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/2270
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10031

Long story short, nobody has ever gotten around to do it, and my guess is it won't come in 0.4.14 either.
I'm creating MineClone 2, a Minecraft clone for Minetest.
I made the Help modpack, adding in-game help to Minetest.

if you use a Linux distribution, chances are you might be able to find some people who would be willing to help with l18n and l10n work. You may not find someone right away but, if you keep at it, chances are someone will be willing to jump in (especially if they check out the software and like it).
As far as windows or mac, I have no idea.
But just try doing some searches via web. This is one site I saw just a moment ago, (I did not look at it much but, it seems it may have some useful info?) http://www.i18nguy.com/ and this is a best place to start https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internationalization_and_localization
In all aspects of software, there are areas which could use improvement, especially regarding l18n and l10n, and such work is only ever beneficial.
But this is how such projects begin to take shape, is when a user has a need and begins trying to find resources and others who have the same needs and desired outcome.
It is understandable to think such things should be done by developers of the software, and with commercial software this is the case, and should be expected. but with free software, the dev staff is usually understaffed and most likely are not very versed in l18n / l10n work, as it is somewhat difficult and dreadfully teadious
This is often the only way such needs can have any hope of being fulfilled. And if your work makes progress it is a great way to give back to the community :)
Each Linux distribution, normally has it's own translation teams so, if you use linux maybe try approaching the devs there first, they may be willing to take a look.
Flick?... Flick who?

The only item in the milestone on github that has not been resolved is the shadow bug at y=63. Noclip seems to need more time. Is someone on that shadow bug, and does light recalculation not change it? I hope this is not blocking the release for too long.

*** Freeze is this coming weekend hopefully ***

I'll tackle the y = 63 bug during freeze.
Serverside noclip has been delayed until after release.
Devs are very elusive recently we are very understaffed.

I hope static draw distance is added! The Dynamic draw distance based on the fps is really taxing on my single-core! A way to turn this off would be great. My suggestion is that the max static draw is 256 and the static draw defaults to 64.

This is the version you use to test.
https://github.com/minetest/minetest

If you want to test PRs that have not been merged you would build the fork from the person who made the commit.

...that's because 0.4.14 has not been released yet.
You want to try 0.4.13-dev, the development version which will become 0.4.14 soon (after more changes)

We are not in freeze yet due to work on a few remaining PRs, see my summary in logs http://irc.minetest.ru/minetest-dev/2016-04-25#i_4592872
Freeze is reset to end of Ozzy shift Tuesday night, that's during the day Wednesday Euro time.

I think this is a good moment to point translators to this:

https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/minetest/minetest/

If you know a foreign language and want to help Minetest, please create a account on Weblate (linked above) and start translating.

As of today, the following languages are already at 100% (edit: not anymore):
  • Chinese (Taiwan)
  • German
  • Italian

That's not much, there is still a lot to do. Please help if you can! Thanks! :-)

Edit: Detailed info on translation here: http://dev.minetest.net/Translation

Minetest 0.4.14 is a major release !!! I use the 0.4.13 dev, you have entered a huge amount of improvements! congratulations guys ... Minetest 0.4.14 vanilla is "almost" a complete game! to complete the vanilla is still missing:

- Adding farming characteristics

- Place the block connections (stairs with 90 degree angle, walls, slab + fence gate?!? Epic !!!)

- Survivor mode (Blockman improved its mod "creatures" renamed "mce" great job!)

- Mapgen v5, v6 v7 is incredibly ... the best !!! the v5 and v6 will be converted in the future? you will change the name, to achieve different game modes? example: survivor (v7), adventure (v6), other ways to mapgen v5 :)

Minetest vanilla has made exponential improvements! keep it up! I'm a big fan of your project!

I am Italian, I am 38 years old, and since 1984 I am passionate to the world of video games and computer graphics (my first drawing software is stao "deluxe paint" on Commodore Amiga;)

Thank you all -__ ^

May I ask for unlocking? Just noticed spanish texts are not even near completion.

Weblate is open again.
I just noticed “feature freeze” does not imply “string freeze”. A couple of strings have been changed recently. Many translations are stilly very lacking behind and the strings are still in flux? That's probably not good.
For me, I'm actually okay with changing strings even now, as long it does not catch me off-guard (let's say, 5 minutes before release). But I am not sure about other translators.
But please try to keep major string changes out unless there is a good reason.
I'm creating MineClone 2, a Minecraft clone for Minetest.

I just read the translate post. Too bad Italian is done, I know some of it. But, I can always use a translator to translate Spanish or something..

est31 made a small mistake and accidentally locked all translations a few days back. He's updated all the po/pot files and everyone should be translating now. Do not wait! Happy translating!

I was wondering if you could possibly give an estimated release date so that I am not so anxious and so that I'm not constantly checking the website. That would be awesome!

I'm excited :) the new 0.4.14 is too beautiful! sin that in the dev yet it was not been corrected the nodes for the iron bars, glass pane, and the stairs that form the corners at 90 degrees :(

The new inventory is fantastic! pity that to activate the search of the blocks, I press the "?" button, the search does not work in real time! or by pressing return.

Great job guys! I tested the latest 0.4.13 dev, I have not encountered crashes, and problems of any kind (stability), tomorrow looks the stable 0.4.14 ^ ___ ^

Yeah, I don't really understand why the xpanes conversion couldn't get merged, building styles and matierials change over time, and it makes far more sense to start off with a pane, that a plus.
