Why would that break maps? Aren't the settings saved per map; when creating one, but not changed later?

If one wanted to be vaguely realistic, wheat harvested would be largely useless. You would then craft it into seeds and straw. the straw could be made into building materials, burned, whatever.... Seeds either would be replanted or crafted to flour. There should be some math behind the number of seeds needed to replant so folks can use excess to make the flour.

I love the way you have now made two different plant seeds that can be found. One imagines this could be relatively easily modded to add a whole plethora of seeds that would randomly drop from grass in different biomes. This simple step is a quantum leap for those of us who like Minetest for its possibilities as a sim.

Hi,
I have collected almost a hundred grass, but no seed. I am using stock farm mod. Is there anything wrong?

Have you collected grass that grows or dirt with grass? AFAIK, only growing grass gives seeds.

You write you use 'stock farm mod'. Do you mean the default farming mod?
Then:
- Do you use a recent (less than 3 months old) minetest build?
- Do you have minetest_game installed/unzipped?

or do you mean with 'stock farm mod' another farming mod (link?)

I tested a bit and the first one(indev) doesn't seem to drop seeds, although the farming mod is active according to the creative menu.

That's what one logically would expect.

I decided to take some more test. I had two longer strokes (19 and 30) without seeds, but overall the ratio seems to be 1-5, so my presumption was wrong.

My second best guest would be check if you're not playing creative, but then you should have 1 wheat seed in your inventory.

Last things I can suggest at the moment are:
- enable creative and check if you see hoes and seeds in it, so you know farming is loaded
- exit menu and try again, exit game and try again or start a new world and try again

When harvesting wheat, it gives both wheat and wheat seed, this is unrealistic. Perhaps if you make it yeild only wheat, which then could be either crafted into flour or all planted again, it would be better.
