Texture pack: http://wiki.minetest.net/Texture_Packs
Mods: http://dev.minetest.net/Intro
Game: Is just a collection of mods. Look at minetest_game to see how a game is structured.
Map: In Minetest click "New" give it a name then click "Create". The Map is saved in your Minetest folder under "worlds".

IIRC there are some topics about that already.

If on a server, get yourself and them faster Internet.

If on singleplayer, get a faster computer, or disable things like shaders, particles and 3d clouds.

Is it a Kindle Fire with support for Android apps? There is a beta android version under Unofficial Engine development.
7:42 PM - Bauglio: I think if you go to staples you could steal firmware from a fax machine that would run better than win10 does on any platform
7:42 PM - Bauglio: so fudge the stable build

it could work with wine

Wine for Android is not in an useable state yet, it is barely able to run solitare.

I haven't played in a while. At some point, the shadowed areas of the world got so dark that they're actually black and I can't see anything. I recall they used to be desaturated and decontrasted, but not actually pitch-black. I used to be able to sorta kinda navigate around in the darkness. Now I can't. When did this change happen? Can I restore to old configuration?

If placing a torch does not help, try to disable shaders. Problems with shaders may lead to a completely black world. Else try to grow a tree. They usually lead to updates of light in the mapblocks they grow in.
A list of my mods can be found here.

There was a bug that made a part of the map completly black when a sapling grows to a tree. Try planting another sapling in that area and let it grow, or let flowing lava disappear on its own.

That's not quite what I meant. I'm not getting lighting /bugs/ per se. I just remember in 4.8, standing in a cave with no torches or anything. I could still see the walls. Yes they were gray and hard to see, but I could still see them. In 4.9, I can't see them at all. It's just too dang dark. Same goes for nighttime: it's really dark.

---

Another question: I copied the "minetest_game" folder, renamed it "minetest_server", and changed a few of the builtin mods (namely removing bones and bucket). I have waving water, waving plants, and waving leaves enabled
In a "minetest_game" world, the water, leaves, and plants all wave like they're supposed to.
In a "minetest_server" world, the water waves like it's supposed to, but the leaves and plants do not.
Why is this?

EDIT: I think I've narrowed it down to the "moreblocks" mod that breaks it. No idea why.
EDIT: Moreblocks redefines all plants for some reason.
Code:
Original:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
minetest.register_node("default:dry_shrub", {
    description = "Dry Shrub",
    drawtype = "plantlike",
    visual_scale = 1.0,
    tiles = {"default_dry_shrub.png"},
    inventory_image = "default_dry_shrub.png",
    wield_image = "default_dry_shrub.png",
    paramtype = "light",
    waving = 1,
    walkable = false,
    is_ground_content = true,
    buildable_to = true,
    groups = {snappy=3,flammable=3,attached_node=1},
    sounds = default.node_sound_leaves_defaults(),
    selection_box = {
        type = "fixed",
        fixed = {-0.5, -0.5, -0.5, 0.5, -5/16, 0.5},
    },
})

Moreblocks:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
minetest.register_node(":default:dry_shrub", {
    description = "Dry Shrub",
    drawtype = "plantlike",
    visual_scale = 1.0,
    tiles = {"default_dry_shrub.png"},
    inventory_image = "default_dry_shrub.png",
    wield_image = "default_dry_shrub.png",
    paramtype = "light",
    sunlight_propagates = true,
    walkable = false,
    groups = {snappy=3,flammable=3,attached_node=1},
    sounds = default.node_sound_leaves_defaults(),
    selection_box = {
        type = "fixed",
        fixed = {-1/3, -1/2, -1/3, 1/3, 1/6, 1/3},
    },
})
The redefinition lacks the "waving = 1" parameter, which would explain the problem.
I use an older version of moreblocks, though. I'll try with the newer version.

And you used shaders in both versions? Nothing changed in the lighting AFAIK.

Maybe my monitor's just dark or something. :P
In other news, when I look downward at a steep angle towards water, it turns opaque.
EDIT: This occurs when:
I start a server in one window (water is transparent)
I connect through another window as a client (water turns opaque, when viewed at a steep angle)
When I disconnect with the client, the water returns to normal (transparent all the time)

Nope, not that I know of one.
Try updating your graphics driver or Minetest itself (I see you're using the dev version)

EDIT: I have been reliably informed that there is no texture atlas in 0.4.9
