Whoa dude. The white.... and stuff. And all new not-colors. /me is confuzzled again.

Guess I better double check to find my place in this new forum order.

I for one, fully welcome our new PHP overlords!

[Edit] Hang on! Hang the !#^@ on! What is the point with the usergroups and the friends and foes thing? Is that necessary? If so, how the heck does it work? I gave the friends thing a go, but what's the point?

Progressing forward is a good thing.

Broken links, eh... not so good.

Like Sokomine, I have a lot bookmarked forum posts and topics that are now non-functional. This also means that all links that reference the forums and promote Minetest out there on the web are also broken.

This is just the first day or so of a work-in-progress; bound to be some bugs and glitches. ;)

I think the new theme is nice and simple. A little bit a green taste would do though.

It would be nice if you were allowed more than 5 links in the signature.

I've noticed that some people's replies (mostly those from when the old forum software was used) have blank titles and replies to those are being titled just "Re:", which makes it difficult to tell what topic they're in from a feed reader. Looks like an artifact from the transition. I don't suppose there's anything that can be done about this in software, is there (like, renaming all of the ones titled "" or "Re:" with whatever the default title would be)? It would be great if there is because the problem proliferates every time someone hits the "quote" button rather than the "post reply" button.

If there isn't a way to solve this in software, maybe the "quote" button should be disabled (if that's possible, I don't know if it is) for a couple months so the forum gets filled up with normally-titled posts?

I want the active topics page back too.

Also, better visual distinction between sticky and normal topics please, as it was in the old forum software.

In any case I like the overall style of the new forum;I find it very clear and readable.
If I may suggest ...
-I would make a little darker the decoration of the stone along the sides to put a bit 'more evident
-I would make clearer the distinction between the sticky and the normal topic

+ There now is a "mark forums read" button.
- I don't see where you can jump to the last unread posts.
- It is not as clear as it used to be. It is hard to get an overview.
- When you disable images you can not see which threads are unread/read. Almost all buttons are invisible (e.g. quote and edit).
- The icons indicating the tread status are much bigger than a normal font. This looks ugly and causes the three points of critic above.
- ...

It is mostly style issues, meaning the can easily be fixed within the current software.

(I also don't like the fast reply, as this encourages a more chat like discussion and less longer thought of posts.)

We've had that before.

Oh, nice. You need to show it to me when we are back in the old forum software.

Also notify for replies should be turned of by default. Rule of Silence: Developers should design programs so that they do not print unnecessary output.

topic tittle font is way too big and the name colours are making my eyes bleed.
Also needs to be a clearer distinction between sticky topics and current ones.

Just some observations.

I must say, the theme is rather ugly so far, compared to our old fonts and background, but I'd imagine it will be improved in time.

However, there is one major gripe I have with the new software itself: when you click on another user's name, you can search for their posts, but there is no link to search for their topics. This means if I want to check out what a specific modder has made lately, I have to spend my time weeding through replies and comments they have been making on their own and other peoples' topics.

Makes it much harder to find the interesting bits...

the one with the white stone and where you can read the post are white the only thing giving contrast is the bits of gray which is not much.Edit:props to who fixed the user information nice work :)

I don't like the new forum software.
  • There is no "New Posts"/"Unread Posts" link that links to the unread post next to the topic title anymore.
  • The search function is even worse than the on in the old forum (searching for "Mod" has 7 matches).
  • The posts aren't "seperated" enough, it just looks like one giant wall of text. Same goes for sticky vs. non-sticky topics.
  • The animated icons next to topics are really annyoing.
  • There is no link to mintest.net in the header
And the worst thing is: There is no benefit for me at all.
Also it might happen that none of this is fixed, since we already switched an nobody cares about fixing stuff now.

I'm having real trouble seeing the forums properly now. It is very difficult for me to read everything and we really need the spoiler tag back. The images not scaling down is also a bit of a problem. My net decided to give out while trying to load all the images at once.

Thanks for getting the links and spoilers to work again. \o/

Spoilers really do help to make the information in long posts more organized and readable.

That puzzled me at first as well. Clicking on the date/time did solve the problem. You can also switch to the default/"prosilver" board style. That does have a symbol in front of the name of the thread indicating the new postings. Changing the style works through User control panel/Board preferences/My board style.

PilzAdam wrote: The search function is even worse than the on in the old forum (searching for "Mod" has 7 matches).

Perhaps we need a better solution for the search function. Some overview topic for all the mods in mod releases and modding general might be a good idea. A bit like the mod database, but simpler: Categories which contain the name of the mod, the author, the link to the right topic and a very short (1-2 sentences) description. Might be a lot of work now, but new readers do not really have a chance of finding anything at all.
This of course doesn't help with the search function.

PilzAdam wrote: The animated icons next to topics are really annyoing.

*Nod* That ought to be turned off.

The prosilver style has other issues, I don't want to use it. In the testforum the Minetest style had these icons too, I don't know why they are removed now (I asked BlockMen to make them bigger, since they are only 5x7 px).
