by Erikas0012 » Fri Aug 30, 2013 12:04

Remember the Oerkki's,Dungeon Master? So I wanted to ask...

Do they exist in 0.4.7 ? (The stable build) And,can you find them?

P.S Minetest is way more awesome than Minecraft.

No, they haven't existed since 0.3.3, but there are mods that add them back in.

Because they were very buggy, and we only implement things that are stable into minetest.

Implement means to include something.

Nope. They were removed when Minetest was getting the Lua API, with the plan to implement them via the API. That hasnt happened yet, though.

Ah, okay. I wasn't around when 0.3.3 was the newest version.

0.3.3 was released together with 0.4.5 (IIRC). It only contains a security patch.
The latest stable release before the Lua API was 0.3.1, I guess you mean that.

Don't you want to bring 'em back?

Without mods...

Early versions of Simple Mobs do just that: add back in the old mobs.

The old way was actually better, CPU wise. Celeron took them out because he wanted to make it simple to change every aspect of gameplay. The old sod never did get around to making a proper Mob API, so they're more or less out for the time being.

In time, creatures will return to Minetest. They just need to be supported by the api better.

Have you tried mobf yet? It has many creatures for you to have around.
