I love Minetest!

Image

created from picture Image (pixels are heightdata)

google 'lua read bmp" for the code to read the pixels of the image into an array and generate with that instead of perlin in mapgen

fast enough!

thanks!!! and nice imageloader!!!!!

and i have found a simple way - gimp can make a .pgm file and save it directly to ascii - no more byte offsets yay!

but there is a problem! creative mode -> bucket -> water -> stick it somewhere -> the water takes FOREVER to flow, even to fill in the hole in the water. Not enough horses in the cheap emachine cpu (solid at 100%)!

still digging out an even better way

thinking about a really cool screenshot (for like a shirt or a hat)

>>like the dungeon master

always looked like a bear to me, especially when seeing it from the side - i still put up "bear torches" in dark areas

hey, i just found something - the problem with the water not flowing is in v6 with no mods too! - maybe my mapgen is not so bad after all! - create new world -> creative mode -> play -> bucket -> pick up water - put it somewhere - it takes forever to flow and even to fill the water hole in - cpu runs at 100%, so it wasn't my mapgen, it is my stupid computer! bah!

workaround until 0.4.8 lvm release is to make the world, let it sit a while and build, then exit and come back in - all better - back to mapgen again!
