Alternatively, you can install a subgame (find them here) which comes with mobs preinstalled. Most subgames just use mobs from existing mods, but a few provide their own mobs.
An example: Lord Of The Test is a Lord-Of-The-Rings-themed subgame with many different custom mobs.
