If you install any GNU/Linux distribution, yes, it should be. Otherwise, I doubt it.

Indeed, like Calinou said, Install a GNU/Linux distribution is the better thing you can do :)

I don't think I can do that, since this chromebook belongs to my school.

You can install most distros on a USB key or an SD card and boot from them, it's gonna be slow but once started it should work. If the HD is large enough you can also resize the Chrome's partition and install a real Linux OS beside it, if you place the boot loader outside (again a pendrive or SD) they'll probably never notice it :) Just be sure to not break the Chrome OS installation, otherwise you may be asked to explain something...

Chrome OS is based off Gentoo, so it may be as simple as compiling it on your Chromebook. It uses the Monolithic Kernel, so maybe someone here can help you with that. :)

Hey 12Me21,

Yes, you can install Minetest on Chromebooks through another Linux distro. I can't speak for the ARM ones, but the Intel chipped ones with SeaBios, I've done that several times. :)

However, if it is your school computer, you probably can't/shouldn't. I have to activate dev mode, which erases everything on the laptop in the process and make a boot screen that risks you deleting the drive again if someone follows the screen's instructions to press space and then confirm with enter.
