Version Numbering of latest builds?

Hi folks,

I am a bit confused about which version of Minetest actually loads on my Ubuntu "Precise Pangolin" computer:

I have received an update through my update manager today, which should be the nightly. But when I launch minetest it prints

Minetest-C55 0.4.dev - 20120606

into the upper left edge of the window, exactly as before.

Is this not updated on the nightlies, or am I running an old version without knowing. Mods like morore, moreblocks and so on function well.

If you want to use the latest Minetest version, you have to download and compile the source:
https://github.com/celeron55/minetest
Read the README.txt carefully and it should work just fine.

my update manager clearly syncs with this repository: https://code.launchpad.net/~minetestdevs/+archive/daily-builds
There I just saw the following build being available since 1.5 hrs:201207201232-0~1609~precise1

Indeed, when checking for updates through my update manager, a minetest update was offered again, so I updated.
However, launching the software still brings up what seems to be Minetest-C55 0.4.dev - 20120606.

My simple question is, if this line on the startup screen is updated for every nightly build, or not. And no, there are no multiple copies of minetest on my machine.

Ok, found out myself by comparing the creation date and time of the build on my machine with the one in the repository.
The version offered in the top left of the startup scren does not reflect the build. It would be really helpfull if this could be changed, and the build added. I see many confusion here in the forum regarding the version or build necessary, eg to run specific mods.
