Q Does Mining - Building Deep Underground Cause Lag - Problems

by LazyJ » Wed Sep 26, 2012 21:27

I've come across a couple posts that indicate possible problems with mining or building deep underground:

And then, somewhere, in my Internet wanderings I came across a blurb about doing stuff underground requires more nodes to be rendered... I don't remember where I read that so I'm not certain it was even related to mine/sandbox type games.

I'm wondering if just digging a deep hole is less taxing on the system than a developed underground city because a plain hole is less complicated to generate?

Or is the issue aggrevated by the depth?... I've read VanessaE's post and watched her YouTube video about Minetest having rendering issues when at the far reaches of the 31,000 node range and have experience those issues my self as I tested the farthest, eight corners of a world.

Thanks.
