How to create the invisible part of the block

hello everyone,
i'm trying to make some blocks and some have invisible part (example: glass) and the invisible part doesn't appear invisible but instead white, may i know how you make the part invisible.
I would appreciate your help in this, thanks.

You need to use a image editor that supports transparency (MS paint doesnt).
I suggest GIMP. If you use it go to Colors -> Color to transparency and it converts all white pixel to invisible ones.

uses a trasparent background in image.png.
I always start with images of other mods to make sure it is working properly.

You need to use a program that supports editing the alpha channel of the image.
I recommend using Paint.NET for Windows, or The Gimp for Linux.

GIMP works on all major OSes, not just Linux. ;)

PhotoFiltre 7 is perfect tool for texturing low-res. Also small and fast loading.
