I would like minetest to be less dependent on mods, and have more default stuff.

I want more sustainability. A server world should be able to theoretically last until it fills up. In a single player world, if you waste your materials, that's your problem. And even so, there are more materials available than you could ever use. But on a server, there are many people, most of which don't think about the future. New players aught not to be penalized for the waste of previous players, so there aught to be a way (although perhaps not always an easy way) to regenerate most types of materials. The obvious exception to this being cats and rainbows, as they are sort of a trophy, and there shouldn't be a whole lot of them.

I would like different realms. and i dont want them defined in lua because that is super slow and laggy. Having a potential destination would give new players a goal since atm there is nothng but maybe searching forever to find a nyan cat. Also new realms will bring more items that could make minetest better. I can think of 5 right now.
Underworld(Hell) would be nice for a boss battle maybe. It doesnt have to be minecrafts nether but that is the closest thing to describing my vision.

I want server reliability and operation. Lua is just too slow, LuaJIT requires a hacky build. An extensible C++-based dynamically loaded modding framework may be useful.

Now working on my own clone, Mosstest.
I guess I'm back for some time.

On sounds: http://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?id=4273
And/Or a possibility for soundpacks, just like texturepacks.

Fortunately the open source nature of the game I believe alleviates the need for this kind of poll. Where people believe something needs to be enhanced, they do it. Where people have the skill to improve the project in a particular area, they do. In general I think you'll find that development history is as close to an accurate answer to this poll as you'll ever get.

Hard to tell. Almost all the options of the poll can be done with mods. The two main issues i had are solved more or less: players are 3d and no longer these strange 2d-shapes, and carts work (although for fast travel, teleportation is still more useful).
More stability would be great. Sometimes the client crashes too frequently (especially after pressing F10).
It's good that the ingame menu is extended and a server list provided. I'd like to see mapgen options (trees, flat, caves, ...) and mod selection at the time of creating a new world.
Collision detection between entities (mobs and players, but not players and players) might also be nice as an option.
Faster load of terrain would be very nice. And the client might cache the terrain from the last visit to a server and display those cached chunks until it receies updates. That way, it would be more easy to actually view large structures.
A list of my mods can be found here.

My choice would be better an more complex engine, but you forgot to mention it in poll.

i don't know what mean in better player phisycs, theres loads of mods for more things to do, theres nether mod and nyanland. i think the servers work fine
