FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Well, I have done it. I have started a set of tutorials on how to draw good 16px textures. They are available on my blog:

This second link is the first actual tutorial. It starts by making a grass tile. The first one is getting used to GIMP and knowing the controls. Anyhow, this tutorial is rigged for almost complete noobs, so don't be shy to try it out. I will be adding some more on bricks, pipes, dirt, stone and cobble-ish textures. I think that it is a good thing to post here, since so many people seem to be asking for textures to be made. My goal with this is to get everybody to be able to make some sort of texture, and in the end, use GIMP. I am still learning, but it is getting along pretty nicely.

Anyhow, I just felt like posting that here, because it might help the community.

How do you make a texture for players, like SAM? (yknow, Sam Aint Minecraft)

@Ruben: I was originally going to have my friend do some photoshop CS6 Vids on youtube and post them there, but he never got it off the ground, so I put in GIMP tutorials.
