Just discovered MineTest

The movement is kind of jerky but I like the map gen. You don't see Sheer cliffs (which I like stumbling upon) anymore in Minecraft because they tweaked the mapgen too much.
The OS 10.9 version crashed in 10.10 so I tried PC. Stable so far.

Does anyone know how to smooth out the motion. He just kind of hiccups when he's smashing blocks.

i5-2500k , GTX 560 Ti, 8GB

Welcome.

I don't understand what you mean by "smooth out the motion", could you explain that please?

I guess (s)he is getting a low framerate.

@evyse: When you press F5, what is the number after "FPS = " on the screen?

@krock
@rubenwardy

It turns out, due to the block-breaking animation being slightly different from Minecraft, it tricked my brain into thinking it was choppy. Frames for huge vistas is 30-40fps. Usually 60-90.

It's so cool the world is so deep but how do people travel 31km up and down to transport supplies??

That's because the current chunk gets updated (16*16*16 nodes (= blocks in minecraft)), this causes a framerate drop.

You can use elevators (travelnet mod) to teleport from home to somewhere else. Very useful.

You can build elevators like that - it is kind of a bug, I think. shift and space to climb.

Isn't a bug, (or maybe it's the best bug in history, so the devs look at other side) It's in minetest since ¿What, the start?

When you shift and jump, you jump a little higher than usual. It is used for going over fences. So, shifting and jumping causes to to fly up in the same way.
