FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Hello I would like honest options, as most of you may be aware that minecraft has a major website known as planetminecraft.
Planetminecraft is a site were people share servers, schematics, projects, excetra excetra. I aim to go a step further and also integrate features like bukkit have with it's plugin list. I plan on calling the website planetminetest. I would like ideas also. I am fully aware this site has most of the features i plan, but i aim to take it a step further. I am also thinking about getting a upload feature setup so users will not need to rely on dropbox excetra.

For a solid alternative to dropbox, try pydio (pydio.com)
It's a self-hosted and Opensource alternative to dropbox. This service have many plugins for many exploitation...

I don't know well what is planetminecraft, so i can't give you more ideas, sorry...

I am working on a Planetminetest. I already have the domain taking care of. and hosted. just need now add the folders and such. So how about we work together running it?

Edit: I can have taken some courses on designing, so I can always give helpful critique on designing. Is there any idea to what the design is going to be? What platform (ex: Wordpress or some blogging software? or plain raw files)?

How about a more original name? :P Just going to be honest but i... kinda hate planetminecraft... The UI sucks and is always glitchy and the community is based off 3 year olds. :/

I think a site like that is fairly pointless. The forums is where mods/texture packs/subgames are shared. Plus, mmdb is being worked on constantly which means that it might support subgames sometime in the future.

Still, there is a sort of attractive idea toward a well organized, creative website that allows for good effects, movies, and news, and not in the forum style. It is more like a cross between the website itself, and the forums. You have a more attractive site.

True, as long as it is designed well. ;)

I think the name "PlanetMinetest" is great because Minec***t players can easily recognize it, and for SOE/SAE it's a very good way to up fastly in search engine... :)

I browsed the website planetminecraft...

My impressions : it's a child mentality website, and the interface/design aren't practical or ergonomic...

How about MinetestGlobal? or MT-Hub or MinetestHub.

So…
1: MinetestGlobal or Minetest-Global
2: MT-Hub or MinetestHub
3: AchieveMinetest

Only names got.
and whatever one like best I will get on it basic part.

and I can create a FTP for each Category of stuff. Mods, Texture Packs, Git Uploads etc. And set a limit of size on uploading to something.
And I will see if can find a good script allow users login to add files maybe. As for now I will use my file uploader.
So far the base idea is simple. as for actually work all the way might be hard part.

But I been playing Minetest since C55 Published the first download. Just never join the forum due lately busy. But I Just know I am going be busy with, a new gamemode for MT Not going spoil anything just yet.

I have added a poll to the top of the thread, the poll will last ten days after i will start developing a website.

How about PortMinetest? (if not, then MinetestHub) I have some really good ideas for logos, and the name is sort of creative/original.

I don't think the name should be all that different. If you want to attract people you need something that they know at once what it is for. Don't invent new words for something that is allready known under some generic name. "Hub" and "Planet" are pretty established and most have an idea what to find under such a name. It need not be these but it shouldn't be something nobody will understand when he first hears it.

I think PortMinetest is a good name!
