FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Where are the save files for Minetest (I am running 0.4, I don't know if that makes any difference) on a Mac? I found it easy on my laptop with Ubuntu but I can't find it on Mac.

It should be in the world folder in the Minetest folder. That's how it is for Windows and I wouldn't expect it to be different.
