Reasons that Minetest is better than Minecraft

Ok, so most people know the main things that are better about it; Minetest is free, easier to make mods for, has a taller world etc.

But there are a few smaller things that are really nice:

- Mesecons have more features than Redstone.
- Full crafting grid in inventory.
- Not losing your stuff when you die, no hunger.
- Mese, Nyan cats, etc.
- You can dig a mineshaft straight down and the bottom will be lit up by the sun.
- No launcher, no logging in with your email.
- Better protection mods, less over-protection
- It's actually kind of good that Minetest is less popular:
- not blocked at school
- servers aren't too crowded
- in-game list of servers is possible
- lots of good usernames available (In Minecraft, apparently someone else is using "12me21")
- better community

Nice list. I must say that the better community is my favorite.

A built-in mod API, so you can customize the game anyway you want with out dealing with the useless junk an insane programmer crams down your throat. (And of-course most mods don't break after you update the game.)

Bugs tend to be fixed quickly, or you can fix them yourself.

People always open for ideas and suggestions.

No need for permission to use mods in a mod-pack, and its easier to make the packs.

There seem to be less "noobs" in minetest, I'm not sure if this is true, though.

Also, there are less stupid myths, like how people think you get more apples (in minecraft) if you let leaves decay (rather than breaking them by hand). This is probably because you can usually just look in the code and see whether it's true or not.

Generally, smaller (but not too small) communities are better, because in large communities (like minecraft), there are usually only a few popular people, where, in small communities, everyone is at least vaguely aware of your existence, and you can actually contribute without having your stuff lost in a sea of a million* other people's crap.

Aww..
What will happen if 1% for example of them made a pull request.
A: Have you made your pr?
B: Yes! I did it! See: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/pull/188401

XD (don't open that link, it's broken :p)

And the #minetest will be very....

I think the community would automatically open new rooms and make #minetest to a Q&A channel only.
More people to talk with can be interesting, specially when you make teams to play or to develop mods.

Minetest is free software. Minecraft is proprietary software. Ergo, Minetest > Minecraft.
