Auto start Minetest server with Ubuntu

How can I auto start the minetestserver file with ubuntu? OS Version is 14.04.

I think you can create a shell script or .desktop file, that you put in /etc/xdg/autostart. This is for a desktop system.

Maybe editing the init script (/etc/rc.local) will work, try at your own risk.

This should do what you want. I never tested it but as long as you point to the right place for minetest it should work.

Personally i really like to use cron for that.

Just add the line

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.

@reboot minetestserver


It works on desktop and server and the great thing is that cron is per user. And you don't mess with rc.local.
