sugests that you're using a Debian type Linux, probably Ubuntu, but giving advice without knowing this for sure may cause you problems rather than achieve results.using "sudo apt-get install minetest"

To add the PPA and install the game, press Ctrl+Alt+T to open terminal. When it opens, run the commands below one by one:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:minetestdevs/stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install minetest
