FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

So I've just downloaded the Android version of minetest. The controls are pretty basic but I do have some questions. I've looked all over the forums but couldn't find anything showing the basics of Android minetest.
How do I craft? I get into the craft menu, but I don't know how to pick up individual items or spread them out equally.
Is there an easy way to get out of the craft menu? Every time I have to I have to exit the game and re enter. It's kinda annoying
Is there a way to turn chat off?
Ahhh! Where's the sun and moon?? Is there a sun in this version ? I usually tell time by looking at them...
I think that's it for now. I might have some other questions later.
EDIT: lol in creative mode some blocks are upside down! Glitch maybe?? XD

Press the back button on your device.

This is a known problem and happens even on desktop, it's rather hard to fix (I don't know the details, I've just read conversations of people talking about it.)

I think by using two fingers, it is reallllly strange. If I remember right, you drag the lot into crafting grid then tap in the grid with other finger to place one of it's kind?
