Minetest Backstory

Minetest should have an official backstory.... like how Mese is of alien origin or that elemental monsters (dirt, stone, sand, tree, ect) are brought to life by Mese....
I've always thought that the Dungeon Master was king of all mobs...but what if he was just 2nd in command! (a secret, unknown mob would be the king then)
What if Mobs ARE the aliens!
Just Ideas...

While this is a good idea, I think it should be up to the subgame maker to create the story. As it is, minetest_game is way to bland to come up with a story for it. Minetest is meant to be a game engine instead of a game by default, so a story wouldn't really make sense.

But some things do have a backstory already, such as Mese and Dungeons (don't they?)
I think that MT_game has enough character at this point to have some sort of backstory, even if its a minimalistic one.

The reason they have a backstory (afaik) isn't because someone wanted them to have a backstory, it is just the true story of how someone came up with the idea for them. (don't quote me on this)

I'm against this, the idea of a sandbox, abstract game having backstory just doesn't seem right to me.

Subgames themselves should confer the story, not the engine itself.
(While we are at it - rename Minetest_Game - confusing as hell.)

Only back-story can find about Mese
The origin of the block is just plain random. In the early days of the game I [celeron55] needed to add something to be mined from the ground, and ended up with this humorous nonsense block, and haven't removed it from the game from since.
Mese actually means "msn messenger" in Finland and is used as a silly word (it sounds silly) in the ohjelmointiputka programming community. Additionally it is thought that the glasses of the emoticons 8) and 8D are "mese glasses".

On the Wiki at least, but i have heard multiple times that it cam from aliens.
I'm talking about Minetest_Game, not the game engine.
I wont dwell on the subject if no one wants one.

Empty dungeons were once inhabited by creatures like you and me, but one day another entity drove them out and incinerated all of their belongings, and all that is left are empty ruins.

Now they are forced to look and recover all of there once abused power source...and what little they have collected is used to made minions. Some made of dirt or stone, sand or even a block of Mese...

benrob, if you're really interested in developing a back story go collaborate on Wattpad or something and when you feel the idea is refined submit to a mod author to be included in a mod (or subgame if you strike good fortune). Or include it in your own.
