Your Favourite Animals and Mobs Mods/Modpacks!

Hi everyone.
I would like to raise a question: What is your favourite mod that adds animals and/or mobs. I know that it's in the title, but I said it anyway. :) Mine would honesty have to be MOBF and Mobs-Redo. What's yours?

I also can't choose between the two, so it would be cool if you would have reasons!

I prefer Mobs redo for the peaceful mobs;
they are nice to watch and easy to customize.
My favorite is mr.goat..he's just cool to have around. :)

Also most of the newer mobs like goblins and water creatures and snowmen,
all use the mobs_redo api

I love the Goblins. :D I also have the Submod that adds Mr.Goat as well. :) It's pretty cool how he also attacks ya.

I may just use Mods-Redo. I like both mods, but come on; Mobs-Redo has actual sub-mods.

Imagine the mobs api we would have if the existing ones joined forces. They could create an amazing api.

Wow. I never thought of that. Perhaps we could add some parts of the some mods API's, as long as the mod creators agree. I think that would be pretty cool!

For a start, merging all those forks of simple mobs (of which mobs redo is but one) back into one mod might help a bit. Merging mobf and simple mobs (or, for that matter, mobs redo, as that's more complete) would be an even bigger challenge. Both mobs are organized pretty diffrently internally. They both need a bit of what the other mod has, but got to where they are through very diffrent paths. Sapier is a more experienced programmer and structured his mobf mod well - it is easy to extend and modular. The mod suffered from beeing rather slow in the past. Most of it (at least due to my experience) was due to the way mobs where spawned. That's long since been changed. Simple mobs and its forks seemed easier to use for modders and are more commonly found on servers, but the code does need some cleanup.

@Sokomine - that is why I think that they should join forces. If they worked together then we could have a common mobs api that is great instead of good.

Mobs are important to many players. Imagine all mobs working great with one single api. Modders and players would be very happy.

Mobs Redo has all of the features of the simple mobs api and of the forks available, that's why I created it to combine all the best features and add some new one's of my own to the api so that players can create some amazing mobs. So far it has fall damage, environmental damage, npc's can attack monsters and vice versa, flying/swimming mobs, jumping only mobs (slimes), replacement routine for laying eggs and eating grass, custom functions for dying, shooting and do_custom for mod maker's own routines... The api docs are brimming:

No doubt that Mods Redo is great! A part of the reason that I said that was because when players want mobs it gets confusing. If there was one great api and a basic mobs modpack and all other mobs used that api then it would be easy.
The way it is now, if I wanted certain mods I might need to have simple mobs and mods redo . Having both slows things down a lot.
@Tenplus1 - I have seen that you have been working on porting as many mobs as you can find over to mobs redo. Thank you for that. This helps a lot. You have the right idea, have all mobs work with one api so people have a one stop shop for mobs.

I really want Mobs-Redo and MOBF to have similar features to one another.

I choose to use Mobs-Redo because of all the sub-mods. They make Mobs-Redo even better!

I use mobs redo too. I like that almost all mobs are ported over to it. If you find one that isn't then as on the thread and it will most likely be ported.

Yup. A ton of people use Mobs-Redo because it has so many mobs.

My favorite hostile mob mod is not_so_simple_mobs mod
And my favorite non-hostile mob mod is the foxmobs mod.
