Why not? (fences)

Why are the main developers against (or why you support) more fences out of some other blocks aside regular wooden planks?
I think this is a nonsense, I don't see the point, why is it so controversial? The main point of Minetest (engine, and game) as stated by Celeron55, was to create a fun experience, and to not take it seriously, and clearly, more, different blocks, will make the game more fun, in some way.

+ Edit:

Not a main dev, but; I don't find constant inventory management fun - and more blocks require more inventory management.
Especially in the case of 'duplicate' blocks (such as different wood types for wooden items), I'd rather have my inventory and time spent on distinctly unique blocks and items.

Also less choice can make building stuff much easier - being able to put down some fences without the guilt of not trying another 4 types is nice

Since it is a subjective choice - modding it in is easier than modding it out, which is why I assume the main devs are taking their time to consider it fully

Hm, yes, that is true to a degree. It's even worse with all the shapes from moreblocks. Building also takes more time. Yet I do like these blocks a lot.

:-) It's not really the fences that do much of a difference here. Less blocks *may* lead to more creativity and easier building. On the other hand, more details make the buildings much much nicer and allow to build on a scale of almost 1:1. Diffrent fences add a further element (=color of the wood) to the game and allow for more intresting wooden houses. Fences are also useful in other circumstances.
