Old-timer MT lovers (4 years on)

It will snow pretty soon in Europe and 2016 is coming soon, so I've looked how many of us old-timers forumers and MT lovers who registered in 2011 and were active on this forum at least in 2015, and it is amazing how many of us are still there.

Oldest active members from 2011:
celeron55, cisoun, metouto, cHyper, MirceaKitsune, neko259, kddekadenz, Menche, Fixerol, Calinou, sdzen, sfan5, kahrl, abcd_z, Melkor, Zmogas, jordan4ibanez, Jordach, XCalibur54, Gambit, TBC_x, xyz, lordawe, Temperest, ZLovesPancakes, CalumMc, redcrab, Zsoltisawesome, Jeija, Tom

Maybe I've missed someone, sorry, some people from that list are inactive for half a year or more, but most are active.
I want to thank everyone who was involved in this game, everything started from celeron55 server and I remember how it became what it is today as I played through these years, liquid bugs are still there, but so is fun!
I'm looking forward for new features and bug fixes in 2016 of course.

My screenshot of the "END of the world" from 2011, walking behind END would crash the server. Walked 30 000 blocks manually with rock on a keyboard ;)

I first heard about MT about 2 years ago, so I haven't played in c55's server.

I first played MT when I found it on the Linux Mint (my first distro!) software center about 2 years ago, then i picked it back up with some friends about a year ago.

It's cool to hear about the long time player of MT, and how far it's come :-P

I still love the 2d rats the most, or the fireflies, do you remember the fireflies?

I've played MT 0.3(The Debian package version) for a while, and never found fireflies.

Found this in the screenshots topic. Some of those old servers had some very skilled builders.

might be interesting to have a list of the first servers and maybe a timeline of their existance

Yeah don't forget those steel apples XD
But, one day there should be a Remastered classic feel to Minetest. but might be awhile before reach 0.5.0.

They appeared only while development variable (in minetest.conf) is enabled, due to their high CPU usage.

Anybody feel up to re-making MT 0.3 as a subgame?

I started in 2012, when I was finishing high school. It's been three years already?!? The February build with rudimentary mod framework provided so many hours of fun. *sigh*

I gave up on keeping up by the time 0.4.7 rolled around. I'm happy with the state of the game. but I will never forget those early days of deep mines, mese, dodging DMs, and building rat pens.

I've discovered MT on October 2013 but I've known 0.3.1, since I took 2 monthes to realize that my version was outdated xD. So I discovered MT 0.4.8 on November 29th (I remember it well), I was pleasantely surprised by the changes that have been made on the main menu, and on gameplay. But I didn't liked mapgen v6 at all. That's why I've been interested soon in mapgen coding.

Something is sure, I'm not going to leave MT soon. I'm really determined to continue working on MT mods (especially Valleys Mapgen) for years. I may have some long breaks (for personal reasons) in the 2 next years but it will not stop me.

That's mainly because you can do whatever you want with Minetest. We haven't thought to all, far from it. A voxel game like Minetest is incredibly flexible, especially Minetest because it's not really a game but a game engine. This game has an exceptional potential. So that's not surprising that 30 people have been playing and/or coding for more than 4 years.
I'm frequeltly asking myself how much time the game will "live" and whether there would be the same people during all this time.

I discovered Minetest in October/November 2011. I played on Redcrab, noclip didn't exist as a right, and everyone had fly+fast... It wasn't possible to kill players so your only weapon against grieffers was grief.

I remember the revolution my mind saw with 0.4.x releases, especially 0.4.3,4 and 5 (also with the arrival of the 3d model).

When I came back to Minetest on the 0.4.9, I could not believe that 3d mobs were possible, and that a server could have so few lags containing so much mods. I was on Xanadu, discovering Ethereal and mobs redo (My only experience with mobs was animals_modpack).

Then I left again and came back to 0.4.11, and joined the community of MinetestForFun, which I still really like. I worked a bit on their servers and discovered some parts of the deep world of minetest (modding, client, hacking).
And now I'm back in active Minetest life, on the forum, and trying to help the newbies or the lonely coders :).

If I leave some other day, I hope I'll come back and see tons of new things. It's already really cool to compile new commits and to hack the client to have some better features.
Long life to Minetest !

I started playing because of my daughter. You was one of the first to make her welcome. That was over 2 years ago.

I don't remember when I started playing the game. Could have been 2012? Before that, I did build on an MC classic server, but modding wasn't really possible there. The first regular MT servers I came across where Redcrab and Calinous server (continued to exist for a while as hosted by OldCoder). One of the first things I did there was fall into a pit and cry for help :) The first singleplayer world was explored without knowing about the fast priv. It's great that many of the early people are still there!
