Pixture

by kaadmy » Tue Dec 22, 2015 16:24

Well, guess what.

I found out today that someone's been using Pixture, removing credits and links, and putting them as paid/free with ads on Google Play.

@proller linked me to at least 4 of them, there's probably more. @proller said [badguy] is also using paid services to spam hundreds of 1-star comments on @proller's projects, while spamming hundreds of 5-star comments on [badguy]'s.

Is there any way to stop this, or by putting credits/links encoded in the subgame?

Would putting a copyright notice in the README help?

Edit: names

I would call Google, and have them remove said content (and probably ban the guy)

He probably has multiple accounts anyway, banning would be useless.

@kaadmy, you should send a DCMA to google yourself, i cannot do it myself because it's not my product. But also please note you choose a bad licence for your project. WTFPL mean anybody can remove your from credits etc. Choose BSD licence for a better protection on your credits. WTFPL is just a non licence, it said : take my work and i don't care about what you do. BSD licence is same but user should keep the licence header and credits and it protect your from bug reporters

It might be not nice, but with a WTFPL you just allow [badguy] to do to your game what they are doing. Spaming comments might be against googles policy, and they might violate Minetests/Freeminers license, but not yours.

So just change your license. Best would be LGPL because that is what minetest_game uses.

Apache 2.0 requires credit to be given, other than that it's very permissive.

I think I'll change the license to LGPL2.1+ for code/CC-BY-SA 4.0 for assets.
Better compatible with MT's license.
