But redstone is red...mese is yellow so wouldn't it make sense if the stuff made from it is the same color as that of which it was made from?

Not to perpetuate the necroposting, but the above texture is no longer useful for mesecons; if someone wants to make them look like redstone, it would require a different way of drawing the texture, plus the nodeboxes that make up the wires would be to be drastically thinned out.
