Is there any support for animated gif's (rather than animated png's)?
Just asking, even though I am certain if there were options for this, you guys would have implemented it long ago. But figured I'd ask anyway :P

If you mean in-game, Minetest does not "support" an image format; that's the job of Irrlicht (the game engine Minetest uses), so a better place to suggest is in the Irrlicht forums.

Thank you, I'll look into it

this was a thread I found earlier, prior to seeing your reply (a very dated thread) http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=143101

True, but not every end user wants to, nor knows how. Also there are limited APNG programs (it's not as popular, even though it is a superior format), compared to animated GIF programs.
I use two editing softwares for APNG images. Gimp, and an online program, which splits GIFs into frames.

I mean this type of png images with frames..
Image

(exactly the type of texture that is used to animate liquids likely lava, or water)
