Minecraft movie gets 2019 release date

I'm trying to imagine what a Minetest movie would be like...

The success of Warcraft: The Beginning doesn't automatically mean that everybody should try their luck to make a movie about their game. Please, don't try to make a movie about a game with a lot noobs. There are already animations on youtube, it will be just another a waste of money IMO.

find someone who does it for free as a learning project for gaining practical experience at making animation videos

You shouldn't ask an artist to do something for free, especially for "experience". It should be someone in the Minetest community that volunteers to do it

How about making it a project at github where the content can be gathered together (e.g. someone gives/shows a link to a tux model)?

The simple_skins mod includes a Tux skin.

I've thought about making some Minetest animations, but Minetest doesn't have a story, and as such doesn't have anything for a movie to be made from.

Someone is making a movie for Tetris, if they can come up with a story for that (making it a trilogy no less : [ ), well then...

The Lego Movie provides inspiration.

Make a themed world, medival, steampunk, modern, or sci-fi, and use the lack of back story as a bonus. More possibilities that way.

And M$Craft doesn't dictate what the minetest community can do.

In a world where (Insert Character Name Here) has been living a peaceful life, building, crafting, fighting off the mobs. Life is good.

Eventually, (ICNH) begins noticing vague differences in the world. At first, just simple things, random nodes appearing. But then, one day, (ICNH)s' world is turned upside down. Now, in order to find his/her way home, they must get to the bottom of why their world is changing.

Meanwhile, Duane/HybridDog/TenPlus/(Insert Other Character Name Here) is happily learning Lua, in an effort to mod his way to minetest happiness. Not noticing that one NPC in particular is following him between worlds.

Watch as worlds collide in what could only be called the open source entertainment event of the year.....

It should be funny... Better make it in Britain.... Brit humor is the best.

What server is that on? Errr.... wouldn't it be based in minetest. Minetest humor, is at best, wholly square!

It might be best to start that way, coming up with a story, do some quick storyboards, and maybe (I said maybe) once there is enough base material to shoot a quick email to a number of short story animators in the Blender circle? They love doing open source movies / shorts.

Warcraft only has a 32/100 rating
I anticipate that Minecraft the movie would get...20.
