I can't find my house :(

by drpeppercan » Sun Aug 07, 2016 15:29

I am in Singleplayer, creative.

I decided to go around exploring, next thing I know I got lost :(
I have enabled flying and fast already, and I still can't find my way.

Any ideas?

Check the logs (debug.txt) and find out where you placed down many blocks at.

Hope helps.
I'm a Transgender no shame about it.
I prefer to be considered as a "Girl/Lady/Miss/Madam/Female" for now on.

Thanks for that Alt. Tester :)
I guess what I needed was the coordinates?
I found this: 12,14,-45
Now how to use them?

You can either press F5 in game to open Debug info and there are coordinates written in top left (like (x,y,z) ). Then just go in direction to coordinates of your house.
Or you can press F10 or / or T and then type
/teleport 12,14,-45
and you'll be teleported there

first, type /grant singleplayer all (this gives you all privs)

then, type /teleport 12,14,-45 (no spaces) to teleport to those coordinates

next, type /home to set your home location to where you are

Yep, my bad - it's /sethome to set a home position and /home to teleport to it after that

you can also write the coordinates of important places into a book.
but there is the possibility to loose the book, so it's safer to write it on paper or a text file on your computer...

/home only works after you have set your home-position with /sethome,
and crafting a bed to is quite some work.

The logfile gets huge, fast. No point reading it, your only chance is to search,
e.g. for items like "torch" or "chest" or "sign" or "door" that might be near your home.

So you should find lines like
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
2016-10-13 01:23:45: ACTION[Server]: singleplayer moves stuff in chest at (-49,4,-70)
2016-10-13 01:34:56: ACTION[Server]: singleplayer places node default:torch at (-50,-49,-169)

Then issue a command like /teleport -49,4,-70, using one of those locations found in the logfile.

BTW, to mark some place, you could drop/pickup useless objects (like a red mushroom), causing a line in the logfile.

Try the Compass GPS or the Orienteering mod.
I also get into that trouble by the way, but that's why I use these mods. xD
