FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Hi, this is just a fun thread and not meant serious or to bash anything. Just for fun. ;-)

Minetest Game will never be realistic. Here are some simple reasons:

- Put a coal lump on a stick. Congrats! You just crafted a torch which burns.
- All it takes to stop water from flowing into your house are some torches
- Chests are made of wood but never burn
- Putting locks on things (locked chest, steel door, etc.) makes them harder than diamond when you don't own them. Even explosions can't harm them!
- Put your hand into fire to put it out
- Punch dirt to dig
- Punch gravel to dig
- Punch trees to get wood—WHAT KIND OF DARK MAGIC IS THIS?!
- 20 fist punches kill a human
- You can carry up to 3168 blocks of cobblestone. Your backpack must be HUGE!
- You can create new water by placing water in a clever way
- Everything is cuboid or flat
- You can swim forever and over huge oceans. Swimming is easy as pie.
- You may be at the brink at death, but just eat 10 apples and you are in perfect shape again
- Every human in the world is male and looks like a woodcutter
- Humans randomly appear and disappear. They call it “joining” and “disconnecting”

With backpacks and gold blocks you can carry a few 100000 tons of material
You can swim up a waterfall

But that is called gameplay

+1 Towards the "Punch Tree"

But I plan try create as much of a Realistic minetest yet. So lets hope it possible do some these things going discussion here.

• You, can be reborn infinity times.
• You, can survive on top a high attitude without a oxygen mask.
• You, can be near lava without getting hot. (or cold in snow areas).
• You can go through blocks—WHAT SORCERY IS THIS!
• You, can carry a bucket of lava without protection.
• Time is short.*
• There is no aging!

*By default my Realistic Test subgame Time speed will be a full 24hrs.

when you break glass it repairs itself.
you can safely break glass with your hands.
put a few diamonds on 2 sticks and you can make the strongest tool.
fell a tree and it floats midair.

and: punch a bunch of leaves to create a new grown tree sapling.

○You never die, you justly respawn!
○You can do a big block of diamond with justly putting very tiny 9 pieces together
○You can do tools without cutting or melting the thing to the shape of the tool, you justly put that iron, mese, etc... and sticks and you do a very perfect tool!

This will seem a little critical.

• You can put a torch access on the seabed. (And use it to breathe).
• You can fall from any height and survive long as it is in the correct position (sneak)
• Your world is finite (36000³)
• You can rummage their ancestors bones in search of items.
• You can not run.
• Wheat, cotton and papyrus does not grow if you are not watching.
• Apples appear in a tree without a name.
• Two bodies can occupy the same space simultaneously.

you can only use your right arm :/

a single piece of coal or wood has enough fire power to smelt a rock.

Fall from the roof of a 10 story building? No problems! Just eat some apples afterwards and you'll be in top condition.

Guess apples DO keep the doctor away :^)

Yeah, and world is a cube. But who cares? Really? It's a game.

MTG really lacks of realistic behaviour in many ways, here also some core-specific issues:

• The default terrain is unrealistic - no 1500m mountains or deep sea trenchs
• You can fly - even without wings
• You can fly through solid material
• It is possible to teleport without a Heisenberg compensator
• No monsters - seriously? Ever looked under your bed? They exist.
• You can watch yourself punching a tree by hand
• You can see your face without a mirror
• Have you ever seen an infinite water source IRL? I haven't seen one yet
• You can hold a steel bucket filled with lava by hand - what a luck you don't feel pain!
• You don't feel pain

hm, once i watched a crappy film where smoke came out of the bed underside and there was a big hole into a hell like world, then the monster came out, but it wasnt so evil, it broke the neck of his victim before pulling off the head

○The nice part is that the monsters only punch you, they can't bite you, burn you alive, or poison you!

Trees don't have roots.

Your internal organs liver, kidneys, brain etc dose not exist

I was thinking of making a disease/genetic engineering mod similar to /tg/station13's virology, except not centered as heavily around RNG mechanics.

Sam can have 4 backpacks on - simultaneously.
Players can change their looks completely within seconds - even making their hair longer etc.

○You can get money by mining bitcoins
○You can broke everything with a pick
○Don't matter if all the tools have the same shape, if you do one of better material, everything will be faster..

You can store 2376 chests in a chest. They're all equal in size.

-You can't have children (and with that i mean... Have to raise them!)
-You can make an animal appear from nowhere with a command!

If you combine two old but equal tools, a new repaired tool magically appears! Yay!

you can swing a sword for two hours without getting tired.
you can hurt people at 3 meters
you can survive to falling into lava with bread
you can craft tools by putting ingots on sticks
yo can sneak-jump and climb a towr faster than spiderman.
you can fall from two kilometers in a boat without dying at the end.
you can sneak to avoid dying from fall you can't see your own arm/body/leg
you can hold things with a cubic hand
you can see that the sun always rises and goes down the same way
you can being hit in the head by a pickaxe without dying
