If the whole security thing is an issue, than you could ask c55 to run his own IRC server, like I already do myself. Discord as well, is very unsecure as it is not open source. Still better than Google, but not much.
Really though, who (aside from me) would be in any way interested in hacking MT stuff? Also, when was the last time that info really needed to be privately communicated between devs and admins? Plus, IRC is plenty secure considering that it is encrypted. You can send what are essentially PMs in IRC too, so that's covered.
I almost guarantee you that IRC is far more secure than Google, as the service itself is typically powered by open source software, and can be run on a personal server. Plus, it's also encrypted. Over all, Google is crap. It's closed source, I've already known for years that they steel all my info. Forget their terms and all. Recently one of my friends got a warning that his account would be suspended because he sent religious emails.
What I'm trying to say, is that IRC is fine. If it's really needed, one of the MT community members can even run the server themself. So yeah, this is just my researched and experienced opinion :D
