in the recent build of minetest (0.4.15), the sun will go down really fast. like crazy fast. then it stays up for a few seconds, then goes back down. the effect is like the sun is going behind coulds. but its driving me crazy and no it is not a mod causing it I checked. Help pls!

Do you get this bug in singleplayer or on a server?
A high packet loss or just a busy server can cause delays in the time calculation and disort the client prediction.

if this is singleplayer or you host the server, check the time_speed setting

The time_speed is at 2304. Is that normal? What is normal?

The default value is 72

This is not a bug, you've changed the speed of time passing

A time_speed of 2304 is very high. It means the in-game day is 2304 times faster than in real time, meaning an in-game day only takes 96 seconds in real time.
With time_speed of 72, an-ingame day lasts for 20 minutes in real time.

time flies when having fun.
but you can change the speed with adding this to the minetest.conf

time_speed = 60

1 is 24 hours
