You can make world exploration a lot easier with Minetestmapper.

That only works for singleplayer, and your own server.
A normal player on a server cannot use Minetestmapper.

enable_local_map_saving = true

to your minetest.config. This will only copy the part of the map to your local worlds folder that is loaded in your client as you visit the places.
If you use Minetestmapper-GUI you may need to add a file called "world.mt" to the folder the local copy is in to allow the program to consider the worldfolder valid. Now imagine all the things you can do by editing the color.txt, you could for example make the bones stand out in red. Let your mind play.

I believe if you harvest crops with a diamond sword, you get more of that plant and its seeds as opposed to harvesting by hand. I'm pretty sure this works all the time, but im kinda silly at times.

Not anymore. The new sneaking fixes (will be available on 0.4.16) make the player be always "standing" on the node, so no matter what happens you will be safe.
