Question regarding collision_box

I realize the collision_box is limited.

I have a really novice question... I will allow approx. 20 seconds of brief, uncontrollable laughter...

If a fix to this probably requires some writing to the engine..., would it make sense to try to add a sort of scale increases to collision? Would that be an easier process and, would it work?

Where adding code such as "scale = 2" would double the collision coverage? if added within the code which defines the collision box (possibly prior to "= fixed')
But make the limit = 3 (which would triple the collision surface)

In the words of the great Jeremy Clarkson "How hard could it be?" :P

It's just a dumb question which popped in my head earlier today, along with a million others.
