The greatest thing about Minetest is that its a blank canvas.

Sure it looks like minecraft and for now plays like it but its not.

Minetest gives us much more flexibility from the get go when playing, it provides a very huge playground or creation or destruction. Its ability to be modded both outside the source and inside it gives it even more of an advantage.

Unlike minecraft modding here is extremely easy, so easy I believe the motto "So easy a caveman can do it" can apply to it.

Another great advantage or feature is that mods work both online and offline. Making a mod that adds hundreds of blocks can work on a server the same way it works in single player.

I'm not saying Minecraft is bad, its a great game, I think it created a genre or at least brought it to glory(Infiniminer and sort of Dwarf Fortress did that) but Minetest can help expand the genre.

The game is still in active development and for now the game works well on old and new machines.

Minetest has limits.

Think of the area where you start as a Zero.

The limit is 31k in every direction. The world is a huge box. 31k down and up, north, east, west, and south. Immense box.

I think celeron55 is working first on stabilizing the engine and adding mod lua for it. He wants this to run on almost anything and not be bogged down when we do mods, and that is a great goal.
