well on 0.3 there was an easy way of doing this, by just editing the config file. but in the latest dev im not sure how to do it, so is there a way?

and dont recommend the xray texture pack cause i dont like it, Thanks in advanced.

no it doesnt work i tried added invisible_stone = false to the config and nothing, is there another way?

Hmm: edit the stone texture and make it all invisible - use http://gimp.org to modify it and make it transparent by using the eraser.

I think it should be invisible_stone = true, but if it doesn't work, Jordach's solution will.

It wouldn't work the same way: the best way in 0.4 would be to make a Lua mod to change stone's drawtype to "airlike", but keeping the collision.
