Anti Griefing Gameplay

Griefers want to do the most damage in the least amount of time. Therefore make tactics that are often used to grief more time consuming. Here are some suggestions.

Vaults:
In the current situation, locked chests are used to grief (by placing them at annoying locations). If they are more expensive, (e.g. 8 iron), this tactic will be more difficult.

Granite:
What if there are stronger types of stone hundreds of nodes below the surface. These blocks, and all derived materials can only be mined with a mese pickaxe. This will require any would-be griefer to spend at least 1 hour mining (and actually playing the game) before he can destroy our precious buildings.
Note: This should probably be done in code.

Bucket of Lava:
IMHO carrying lava in a bucket is strange. It is also a good griefing weapon. Therefore remove it. We can always add an expensive type of bucket that will allow the carrying of lava.

The art of griefing is a very special thing, nothing you said can be considered good griefing.

Like when you state "Griefers want to do the most damage in the least amount of time" that is a lie, if you want to grief a server very well it takes time, your not gonna go around destroying buildings with a wood axe.

Also imprisoning people using lock chest is ineffective, you can just turn off your modem, dig the chest, get out and reconnect. Once reconnected you will be out of the chest.

"This will require any would-be griefer to spend at least 1 hour mining (and actually playing the game) before he can destroy our precious buildings."

Like i said going in and starting to destroy stuff with a wood axe is dumb. A good griefer will go find all the materials he needs, mese, iron, lava, wood.

And lava is not even useful if the fire mod is taken out........

How do i know this? Cause i have burned most popular servers to the ground :)

Node protection is really the only good answer.

And nodeprotection makes Landmine cringe.
And his well known alias, ACDC.
So yes, nodeprotection is very effective, all we have to do is figure out how to keep liquids like Lava and Phazon from being placed by random griefers...
Maybe we need some type of craftable blocks that protect a region, size goes accordingly to value, maybe a coal block would protect a 5x5 region, but a hyper-mese block (9 mese in crafting grid) would protect 20/25 blocks, like PStones in Minecraft (but a lot different, as MESE is a lot better than redstone)
Maybe the popular servers should be whitelist servers, so that it makes most griefers just go away. Or, someone could make a mod that can be used by admins to protect a region, and give it a special name (ex. Area1) and only people with ''Area1'' privs can do anything in Area1.
Just some ideas...
