Its been higher then that in recent days. CPU is also running very hot. (which is ironic since people say MC can fry a computer lol)

So i installed the debian-based crunchbang linux, im going to see how minetest 0.4.1 performs on a debian kernel (my other system is arch + arch LTS kernel). Same home and tmp partitions, same world, same client. If its arch ill know soon :-)

I've been having bad CPU spikes on my server, which had been running fine before the upgrade to 0.4.0/0.4.1. According to top, minetest is usually around 20-40% CPU, but sometimes it shows it as over 100%. My server uses Debian testing.
EDIT: Today and yesterday it has been reported as over 100% constantly.

That didnt work out too well. I had to download the nvidia driver from their website cuz none of the other methods worked. i had to modprobe nvidia, rmmod nouveau and kill and restart x to get it to work, and performance was shitty the whole way. CPU idles at zero percent but playing minetest or a movie it stays at 100% and the image is not better for it.
I might try installing fedora over the crunchbang partition see how that goes, but not today lol

I don't think nvidia's the problem, I don't run X11 on my server.

nvidia performing this badly on any task pretty much prevented me from making a comparison to arch. One things' for sure, installing nonfree on debian is still a pain ITA lol.

Yeah. I noticed higher CPU usage and a difference of ~10 FPS between 20120122 and 0.4.1. My computers can handle it, thankfully.
