Why is Minetest called Mine"Test"? Will the name change when it stop developing? I can understand the "mine" bit of it, but test? Why? Minecraft has both mining and crafting, so this is easily understandable. Infiniminer, is also understandable because of its infinite worlds [sort of] and the mining bit, but test?

AFAIK no, the name will stay same. Why don't you like "Minetest" (or "Minetest-c55")? May that be some unknown form of testophobia?

It was called mesetint for a brief time - during the dev cycle - but minetest just had more name recognition. Also, minetest-game will forever be in beta - you have to add functionality to it to suit yourself.

It's not that we don't want to change it, it's that we hesitate to do so as the community grows and the engine develops. When it hits that mythical 1.0 release, you bet that a new name will be given.
