fullscreen_bpp and fsaa - What do they do and what are the settings?

by LazyJ » Wed Sep 26, 2012 03:06

I run Minetest in fullscreen most of the time. In the minetest.conf file there are two lines that I'd like to know more about.

One is "fullscreen_bpp = 24", the other is "fsaa = 0" (and is prefixed with "Experimental option, might cause visible spaces between blocks when set to higher number than 0"

What do they do?

What is the range of their settings (parameters?): 1 to 100? or more?... if higher than 0 may cause problems do I use negative numbers?

I've tried different settings for these two but there was no noticable change in the gameplay. Do these depend on some other lines in minetest.conf in order to do their thing?

Thanks.

bpp is the bitrate, how many colors your screen can handle, check your monitor settings and set it to that
fsaa, full screen antialiasing, it takes the jagged edges off of the lines and corners, i recommend leaving this at 0 for speed, and the fact that it is glitchy with the blocks being interlocked (as you can actually see through the corners)
If you can think it, you can make it.
