What is his name? since Minecraft is Steve whats Minetest? and we should make, a Bio and all that stuff for him.

His name is Robert.

Why does the character need a name?

If there is a name though, I think it is singleplayer. One word, no space, no capital letters.

Also, my brother, who is a Minecrafter, tells me that the Minetest character is NOT officially called Steve. That is a name fans use for him, but he doesn't actually have a name at all. Just saying.

Then we definitely should have a name, even singleplayer and post that on wiki ;)

Hmm. That is a good point. But at the same time, by giving the character a name, we acknowledge that it is an actual character. In doing so, when on servers, we have a dozen singleplayers, a dozen of the same character, running around the world at the same time. While if we say the character is the player, then we only have one of each character in the world. One 4aiman, one 0gb_us, et cetera.

Well, maybe this singleplayer should be a wereplayer: turning into 4aiman or 0gb_us while on server and staying just the "singleplayer" while offline. But our character isn't that simple - he can use advanced tab in the main menu to "turn into" someone else ;)
Minecraft need some additional legendary not existing officially character. Minetest could have wereplayer as the main character ;)

That causes the same problem. Sure, wereplayer can transform into any of a multitude of forms, but underneath it, we've still called him/her/it an actual character, and there are still a dozen (although in different transformations) of the same character in the same world at the same time.

That's normal. No one ever complained that his S.T.A.L.K.E.R or Mazda MX-5 is somewhere else with different clothes/vinyls atm.

The name of the default skin is character.png, the name of the default model is character.x

I believe some people had a problem with Robert so I don't think it needs an official name other than the file ones

The model was made on blender

Then why they there 2 models for?

Anyway I think the Player should be called what the Maker of him, name him.

Firdt jordach did make it but this is a community game so it should be everyones vote. Second i think it should be short, quick, and nice. Maybe one syllable. How does steve sound........pretty good. One syllable, quick name, and nice sounding(a common name). So i say no character X, wereplayer, singleplayer. What i say is find a common but not everyday common name. Everyday common is like joe, bill, bob and stuff that people use to make examples.
