Hi,

Still quite new to the game, I have installed it on both Ubuntu (from calinou's terminal command) and Windows.

I have more fun with the mobs in the Ubuntu version. Why are there no mobs in the Windows version?

I tried to install the "simple mobs" by Pilzadams, but it doesn't work (I got a couple other mods working fine).

Any clarification and suggestion welcome

Did you install simple mobs in the Ubuntu version? If they were in by default, you probably got 0.3.2 (the previous version). The textures would be different as well.

The version of the ubuntu softwarecenter is 0.3.1. I guess for windows you have the latest version 0.4.4.

I didn't install any mod yet in the ubuntu version. The textures are a little different, but also, I already found mese in Ubuntu, nothing in Widows.
My windows version is indeed 4.4

Is there a stable working mod to add basic mob to minetest 4.4?

I use simple mobs. To install, you extract the folder into mods/minetest (create the folder if it doesn't exist). The "mods" folder should be inside the folder you downloaded.

Mese has been changed to a weird crystal thing so look for that instead of the normal mese from 0.3.2.

Problem solved: I changed the name of the folder to mobs and it was accepted.

Haven't met with any bad creature yet, but I'm sure it will happen :-)

My command installs the latest development version (0.4.4-d1 right now), so you probably installed Minetest using a package too and ran it instead of "my" version...

Tu as raison, j'ai re-installe 4.4 sur ubuntu and it behaves like on windows now
