FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

Personally, I love it, but I also love the old look. Poll time.

I do however like the last start-up screen a bit better. It was clean and retro feeling. With the moving clouds I could stare at it all day. Maybe we could make it an option that can be changed at any time through a "theme" option. The web page looks great.

Its not only a design. The community can now edit the page without celeron55 being here, so we can update the page when new releases are made.

I like the new look but it kinda look's like minecraft.Need's more minetest.But I voted yes

I think there should be a mods page. Maybe put the most common ones up there and also ones showing the newest things added(potions)

I liked the old one :)

It wasn't random, it was based on the current hour...

The new homepage looks ok but I personally prefer the minimalistic style of the old one. My main criticism would be text on a textured background, too many images on the main page and the fonts just don't seem quite right, I am guessing it probably looks better with Internet Explorer.

Overall though the website content has improved a lot.

this is the first time I'm against Minecraft things.
Old page was "laconic" new one... Don't take it personal, but it's ugly.
Screenshots are just... they look like someone has emptied a trash can full-o-screenies on the floor...
I may like smth like this: but the current desings has everything but design.
I'm not saying my picture is perfect, this is but a thumbnail.
Sorry BlockMan, you're doing good mods, but site design is bad.

Why would we use the same screenshots?

Your screenshot is confusing me. Do you mean the template or the content of the page, because the content is the only thing you have changed.

And that is not made by me, its made by a couple of ppl, which you can see at the bottom of page: "Last modified: 2013/04/11 21:04 ..."

I don't like the look of screenshots most of all. So changed that to smth I may like.
That doesn't mean that I like to blurry header or too "hard" edge between dirt and stone or those two tubes made of gaussian blur and running above and below the logo.

Really, if anyone wanted to copy MC-style pages, thn there are many examples. With a shadow under dirt, fort example..
As for logo - it's too clunky and blurry. When I saw it at the first time I thougt that would never be added :) I was wrong and now this logo is on the homewpage.
I used the same screenshots, cause I don't have other. They are subject to change. I showed a frame and pin. Maybe with a shadow too.
Template is NOTHING w/o images. Several divs aren't a template. Several divs with defined css, pictures/backgrounds are.
If you think otherwise, then you have defined only a rectangle for content, a place for the header and the footer and... what? All other things need images and the way to display them. I mean with or without css3 effects.

Anyway, I doubt my point of wiev will do anything to anyone's and help to change the home page either back to the old one or to the even newer one. This thread is about personal feelengs towards ned design and I just express my opinion. Besides, there allways will be dissatisfied, and I'm not agains beeing one of them in this case.

I cant complain about screens since five of them are mine :p but the page design/layout seems a bit too much like minecraft forums'

I'm not against screenshots, I'm against a pile of... well, screenshots, made up of them...
Currently the home page looks like it doesn't quite sure whether it should be blocky and random or smooth and rounded...

same hhere they look unprofessiional or attractive. what about incorperating mese into there since it is known to be minetest's.

That looks nice!

I like the current/new/whatever page, but IMHO the screenshot thing is messed up.
