Minetest development state

I notice that many are starting to leave minetest, they say that the devs are the problem but i was thinking, if you don't like the way MT is going, make your own game mode, if you feel that some things should be added or removed add/remove them for your own personal use, If you don't think the devs are doing there job, consider what i said above :) Pilzadam: http://forum.minetest.net/profile.php?id=2443 contributions to minetest a great, i think that they give minetest more spice, there was an issue with 'Mese Crystals" awhile ago, many people wanted the old mese back, that's when my idea comes in: 3 Game modes Survival, Creative And Classic Survival is what we have now but a few mobs and more "survival features" creative is what we have now, and classic is the old minetest where mese crystals and all of our new ores didn't exist, it's for people who want to play minetest but don't like many of the new features. Of course we should also consider things like Bugfixes, a new name, and more game polish.

That is a good post you made there. One of the ideas I like is a new name for Minetest. How about Lands Of Vox or Box Realms?

Well, i was thinking of something like OpenMiner or OpenBuilder, Box Realms would be good, but instead we should call it Node Realms :)

Honestly, people need to stop making topics saying "I'm leaving". They're nothing more than attention-seeking and flame-bait, regardless of what the starters of those topic claim they are.

I left the OpenPandora community some time ago because I got fed up with that community's tendency to endorse nonfree software and snap back when I disagreed, but I didn't make a topic saying "I'm leaving, you horrible nonfree software apologist heathens!" I just left.

(That's not to say that I haven't been an attention-seeking little brat at one point. The last time I did that was when I left the UQM forums. At that time, though, I also thought I was going to drop all that passion I had for games and do something I had absolutely no passion or talent in because it was cool; more or less regular teenager shit, in other words.)

In my opinion the main problem is that "these members" dont accept the fact, that someone (or a few ppl) have to give the whole thing a direction. If everyones stuff is merged, the whole engine gets lame and this project will crash.

And honestly, to all the "goodbye" and "im leaving" people. All point that you come up with are made in lua, its the game, not the engine. And nothing is more easy to change than that. You dont like mese_fragments? Remove it! You dont like Obsidian? Remove it. Or change it or what ever.

I am also near leaving minetest since:
-The servers are getting boring
-Minetest need's more people

+1 Couldn't have said it better. I also want to make it clear, I am going nowhere any time soon. I hope to stay as long as I can.

I agree. The developers have to give the project a direction, which everyone might not agree.

If everyone's stuff is merged into the game, it would probably lag very badly which no one would enjoy. This forces developers to have to choose what should be implemented into the game, and what should not be implemented.

Something else to keep in mind: As far as I know, all these developers working on this game are not getting paid. I appreciate the hard work that they have invested in it.

What you want Minetest (engine AND default game) to be. That is the question. The one and only.

Flexible. The engine should be flexible. It should be it's own project. The "game" should be flexible too.

I agree, people don't have to winge and leave just because something they don't like is added, that's the beauty of minetest, if you don't like something you can remove it.
