FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

I was wanting to play on one of the 0.3.1 servers, but I can't log on to them with 0.4.6. I looked in the stable minetest releases, but I couldn't find a 0.3.1 build for ubuntu precise. Can someone link me to it?

The mobs in 0.3.1 might be the reason that you can't get on 0.3.1 servers (the cache system must not be able to understand them.) For this reason, I was hoping that more of the old buildings from GameBoom would appear on VanessaE's Creative Server.

The reason I wanted to play on 0.3.1 is that I was feeling nostalgic, and wanted to be challenged with limited blocks.

0.4 is generally incompatible with 0.3.
The minetest package in the official ubuntu repo is 0.3.1.

I can't get the version in the repositories to work.

Grab the source for 0.3.3 from here and build it. Problem. Solved. :-/

That said, 0.3.1 uses a much older protocol than the current releases and isn't forward compatible- the last version to work with it is 0.3.3.

Darkrose's minetest-classic is a fork of 0.3 with bugfixes and enhancements. It builds with Irrlicht 1.8, among other things.
