What do you do when people call minetest minecraft?

Whenever someone sees me playing minetest they say: "cool, minecraft!" or something like that. It kind of annoys me but usually I don't correct them because when I do they are usually either dissapointed, or they just keep calling it minecraft. I wanted to know what other people do when minetest gets called called minecraft.

I start telling them about how the engine works. They usually walk away then.

I don't do much- I let the game speak for itself. I've modded mine to a crazy degree- the illusion of minecraft lasts right up until a mob comes around the corner and I pull out the Peacemaker. Back in the old days, before I'd gotten into remaking it, I used to just say "On steroids."

Some people say to me "Hey look, Josh is playing minecraft!" then i tell them "This is minetest, a free open source alternative to minecraft" Then they say "I dont understand" or something like that.

It hasn't happened to me, but if it did, I would say that I would never play Minecraft because it's proprietary, and that what I'm playing is instead a free clone called Minetest.

When I play Minetest people say "Oh, you play Minecraft?". Then I answer: "This is Minetest. It's free and better than Minecraft". They say: "No, minecraft is great, minetest is ***". Then I say: "Oh, you just think Minetest is *** beacuse you already spent 20 € for Minecraft" :P

I usually just don't say anything, even though it erks me. I just can't really think of how to introduce minetest to them, so I'd probably make a bad impression on them. So that's why I usually stay quiet. :P

I tell them "No.. it's similar to minecraft and its free." i.e. I don't even mention the name.

If its house guests (people i know) i usually don't bother to correct them - i wouldn't want them coming here and associating me with some of the personalities/politics they'd find :p

When this happens to me I say "No this is Minetest a free open-source block style game that is much more lightweight and basic the Minecraft."

Mostly I say something like: "Minetest! It's a Minecraft clone which is free and open software. On one hand it has less content, because it's still in a quite early development stage. On the other hand it has elements which Minecraft has not. I find it better!"
People who see me playing MT usually know I've been playing MC for over 2 years and that I loved it ( I still like it, but I'm in love with MT now).
First they're a bit confused, when they seem interested I tell them more details and how I came to play MT, sometimes they stay confused. :D

Since Minecraft is extremely famous, clones that looks like it, people will usually make that mistake. I'd explain them what it really is. But if their stubborn I'd give them a bitch slap.

I just explain that it is pretty much the same but free, with a much simpler modding system and that runs faster. Then I show them some amazing mods.

I scream at them and say: "This is Minetest!!! It's so so so so so better than Minecraft because its free and it easier to make mods!!! Minecraft isn't free, but Minetest is!"

I'd laugh in their face and they'd say, "What?"
or
I'd say "Nope, not Minecraft, but kinda like Minecraft, and open source." (and then they might ask what "open source" is...)

That's funny: it's usually when I start talking about the engine that my friends start to have an interest in it ;)
The main point that made my brother switch to minetest is when I told him there's not a bit of Java in its code!
(and I don't talk here about geeks, most of my friends don't know what a source code is)
