No. Minecraft is a java application and to play Minecraft you would need to download the Minecraft launcher, buy an account, and play. In other words Minecraft uses a completely different programming language to Minetest.

Or a disk in a tape cassette drive...

Edit by sfan5: Can't you just put your answer under the quote section like normal people do?

Sort of. All you need to do is place the Minecraft application file inside the games folder of Minetest. After that, run the Minecraft application and you will now be running Minecraft inside Minetest.

The way you're thinking of doing this, absolutely impossible. Minecraft is a completely different architecture, with completely different functions and methods for every single component, not to mention a different programming language (Java over C++).

If you want to get Minecraft in Minetest however, it's still very possible. You just need to make a minecraft_game which has the same tools, items, biomes, animals, functionality, etc. Someone is already working on that of course, but it's far from complete. Unless they use the original textures and sounds from Minecraft, it should also be legal enough. Of course there will be a lot of moral complaints never the less ;)

It's not like putting a GB cartridge into an NES (the adapter, the Super Game Boy, was for the SNES, by the way, not the NES). It's like putting the save data for SMB3 into the SRAM of an SMW cartridge and expecting to be able to play like SMB3.

".minetest" is just a save directory. It records things like maps, mods, and custom textures. It has nothing to do with how the game works (the engine), which is different between Minecraft and Minetest. The programming language has nothing to do with this either, by the way. Project: Starfighter is also written in C++, but I think it's obvious that its engine is not the same as Minetest's engine.

Its more like trying to put your foot in a shoe 5 size smaller than you.
not to say that minetest is 5 sizes smaller the minecraft...

If you completely replace all minetest stuff with stuff inside .minecraft it will be like renaming .minecraft to minetest so yes, it will work, just not quite in the way you expected.

It will work in the sense that Minetest will ignore the Minecraft files there and generate its own over them, resulting in a larger and messier user data dir without any different functionality :)

Anyway, I found the link for the MC in MT game again. That is the proper and only way to get what you're looking for.

That's a texture pack. PilzAdam's MiniTest tries to imitate Minecraft gameplay in Minetest.

The facepalm of the year goes, as always, to the christians who think that science is wrong and everything that is in the bible is true (without evidence at all).

We should buy a spot in the bible and add a chapter about Minetest, so at least we won't have that problem with them. Kinda how things were done during the course of history to make things more or less popular or accepted, so why not :)

REMEMBER- ONLY SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THE BIBLE IS THE COMPLETE TRUTH- MANY CHRISTIANS BELIEVE IN THE BIG BANG THEORY AS WELL AS CHRISTIANITY.
