How do you pronounce “Oerkki”?

The Oerkki was a mob in old Minetest versions and today it is part of
one of PilzAdam’s mods.
The question is: How do you pronounce “Oerkki”?

I pronounce it: (read it german) "Örki".

I had seen them referred to as "ghosts", which makes sense because the original 0.3 oerkki turned invisible in the dark and are shaped sorta like ghosts.
