Did the main site change???

So, I havent really been on the main sight in like the past 2 weeks. So when I came to download the newest version of Minetest I noticed that it had changed. At first I thought it was just my computer being retarded. But time after time it kept looking like this so I was just wondering if the site was changed or if it is just my computer.

If the site was changed, I have to say that the new style REALLY reminds me of like a Windows 8 theme. I like the Windows 8 theme, but I dont really think that it suits Minetest.

I noticed the same thing. I thought it just wasn't loading the images or background.

Why, I think it looks great. I thought the old one lookd cluttered, plus I like simplicity.

I think it could use a splash more color and organization. like separating sections into boxes.

I think the main homepage need at least a screenshot. It breaks up the text and will look nice on the front page.

I like the new one, but it needs some page with screenshots and maybe videos.

Hmm I've the feeling, there's some color missing in the background but else it looks better than the old one.

It looks plain.

Yeah, I guess the site has changed. My browser gives me the indication that the page is done loading, and there are no images. I preferred it with images, but oh well... Not like I use it anyway, I just use a nightly build.

Looks simplistic. Nice. But I guess that a few images a video would've made it look better.

Here a great example how a video could look that informs about new functions, but at the same time isn't technical at all and all about changes. So new users get an impression but don't get bored by a "Changelog video".

It's by the great open source game SuperTuxKart for their new Version 0.8.1:

If there should be a video on the main page, I think it should be my Minetest 0.4.8 update video

No, that video is too slow, has loads of sore points, and too personal.

It also shows none of the new features. It would be nice if a video was made each update on the minetestc55 channel.

I do like this one WAY better than the other two! I think the forums should be changed like that also!

I think it is okay now. It could do with being a bit wider to fit more info on but that's just my opinion.
I still like this one though :) http://web.archive.org/web/20130302032543/http://minetest.net/

I like it although I like a darker, less vibrant site. I am in website design at my highschool, so I have a more critical eye....

I don't think the "Flying around in a UFO" quote is suitable. It did put me off a bit. Maybe consider using another one? ;) Also the text "Minetest is developed by a random bunch of lunatics." isn't very appealing, although it may be true, maybe word it differently. "Minetest is developed by a random group of developers who have a passion for games"?

I prefer a more clean look on a website, but I think the minetest website could do with being more responsive. I am also a web designer and responsive web design is getting more crucial.

I agree about the pyramid quote. While it does pretty much encapture the spirit of minetest, I honestly think putting profanity on the main page isn't the best idea. The "Minetest is developed by a bunch of random lunatics" part is just for humor's sake. And it is partly true.

Fixed.

But I have to agree with JMR. *crap*load isn't the best thing, I think that editing it a bit might help

Speaking of which, the active contributers list needs to be updated.

I totally agree with that assessment. UFOs and pyramids have nothing to do with the core game, since they're both mods, and "shitload" is going to turn off some people, which is a shame since the game itself is suitable for all ages. Maybe change it to select quotes randomly from an array?

I agree. An array of quotes would be a good idea.
